Sinotech 7-inch tablet aims high with 800MHz CPU and Android 2.1 in tow
Newest Android tablet to come out of the MID prove grounds of Shenzhen is from a company called Sinotech, and like some other hot Chinese devices we've been considering, this latest addition leaves behind the vanilla combination of a Rockchip RK2808 processor and Android 1.5/1.6 instead opt for the newer, more powerful 800MHz Telechips 8902 CPU and Android 2.1 OS. The rest of the specs are also quite promising with 256MB RAM, 4GB limited storage, support for microSD cards up to 16GB, hardware support for full HD 1080p video playback, HDMI output, optional GPS, and a 1300mAh li-on battery. Sadly, the 7-inch WVGA touch screen is resistive in order to keep the price down, and the exact range of connectivity is currently unknown but is sure to include the standard b/g WiFi.
The tablet has boldly been designated as an iPad clone, while I wouldn't say the design is a deliberate copy with Sinotech only adopts certain design features like the slightly curved metal back. Infact, the new device is very similar to the Phecda P7, with a little different design and a more powerful Telechips CPU. As a low cost tablet, the Sinotech MID looks like a aggressive entry into the market with the advantages of more processing power and a newer version of the Android OS over many of its rivals. The device should be available in China shortly, although the exact price and international availability is unknown. See a few more images of the tablet after the break.
